Joomla Tutorials – How to Change the Template on my Joomla Website Guide
Here’s our Changing the Template on a Joomla guide. First you will want to find a good theme online and download it as a .zip file. Once you have done this, log in to the back-end of the Joomla site and go to the extensions menu and hit the install/uninstall button as shown below:
Browse for your file and then click on the upload and install button located next to browse. 
Once you have done this you will need to go to the extensions menu again and select Template manager this time:
Once here you will see a list of the templates/themes installed. All you need to do to use one of these themes is tick the radio button and hit default and the top right of the screen.
